Influence of metabolic syndrome on outcome after percutaneous coronary intervention

چکیده
Objective: To study the effect of metabolic syndrome (MetSyn) on cardiovascular outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with bare-metal stents (BMS). Background: The constellation of dyslipidemia, impaired fasting glucose, high blood pressure and abdominal obesity is recognized as MetSyn. MetSyn increases mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting. The influence of MetSyn on outcomes after PCI is less well studied. Results: The influence of MetSyn on major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in PCI patients with BMS was studied. MetSyn factors showed a significant relationship to MACE. When compared with no MetSyn factors, the adjusted hazard ratio for one and four MetSyn factors was 1.24 (95% CI: 0.85–1.81) and 1.65 (1.11–2.45), respectively. Cox regression identified MetSyn as a significant predictor of MACE. Conclusion: MetSyn increases MACE risk in PCI patients with BMS. The risk is worse with increasing number of MetSyn components. Aggressive treatment of patients with MetSyn after PCI is warranted.

Dynamic changes in purine catabolism in patients with acute coronary syndrome that underwent percutaneous coronary intervention
Background: Cardiovascular diseases are global problems. They are causes of death in about 43% of people worldwide and may become the most widespread reason of death by 2020. The prognosis is directly dependent to immediate diagnosis and on time treatment. Introduction of new biochemical markers as the early diagnosis of complications after coronary revascularization is very important in this p...
متن کاملComparison of in-Hospital Outcome after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Between Patients with Anterior Myocardial Infarction and Those With or Without Ramus Intermedius
Introduction: Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is used for the treatment of ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Anterior STEMI is associated with adverse outcomes, and it is possible that the presence of ramus intermedius (RI) would inversely affect the outcome. This research involved the evaluation of the influence of RI presence on clinical ou...

The aim of current study was evaluating the frequency of clopidogrel resistance and its impact on clinical outcome of patients in Iranian patients. Patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention in Imam Hussein Medical center, Tehran, Iran, who received standard dosage of clopidogrel (Plavix®, Sanofi, France, 600 mg loading dose and 75 mg/day afterward) were recruited. Platelet aggregat...
